Milton Keynes is a prosperous city with an above average percentage of the population in good health. The city has been designed so that each residential area has a doctor's and dentist's surgery in close proximity with quick access via the grid system making healthcare easily accessible to all.

Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which has been serving the needs of local people for over twenty years, is committed to putting patient safety first, delivering first-class patient care and developing its services to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding population in Milton Keynes.

In the Healthcare Commission's 2007 annual health check Milton Keynes Hospital scored 'good', the second highest category, for both quality of services and use of resources, ranking the Trust as the best performing in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Many of the city's health centres contain doctors' surgeries, X-ray and physiotherapy departments, mother and baby clinics and family planning centres, as well as District Nurse and Health Visitor departments. The out of hours GP service, MK DOC, provides round the clock support for patients and the NHS Walk-In Centre provides care for patients not wanting or needing the Hospital A&E facility.

The Saxon Clinic in the heart of the city provides first-class independent healthcare facilities including the latest state-of-the-art technology and on-site support services covering a wide range of treatments.

There are a number of nursing homes within the city caring for the disabled and elderly as well as Willen Hospice, a specialist care centre for people living with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses.

Milton Keynes has invested in a wide range of leisure facilities that means there's plenty to keep mind, body and soul fit and active, allowing its residents to enjoy the best possible quality of life.
